Description

This module enables students to develop independent research and communication skills whilst investigating a topic of specific relevance to their chosen degree. The research conducted - whether text, fieldwork or laboratory-based - will be determined by the topic choice and disciplinary area. Likewise, the presentation of research findings may take the form of an extended essay (standard for humanities and social sciences), project or experimental report (more likely in natural sciences). The unit increases awareness of disciplinary practices typical of each student's chosen degree, and of their preparedness to progress.
